AIRCRAFT
Solar Ship has three families of aircraft: hybrid airships, round airships, and tethered aerostats. Airships are highly energy efficient because they use buoyant lift gas like helium or hydrogen to provide lift. Solar Ship's innovation is to combine that buoyant lift with aerodynamics and directional thrust from electric motors to achieve capabilities that are impossible with other aircraft.
HYBRID AIRSHIPS
Solar Ship’s iconic aircraft is its hybrid inflated wing which generates lift by combining buoyant lift gas and aerodynamics. The large delta wing surface provides a perfect platform for solar panels to complement battery and fuel-cell electric power for its propulsion. While highly efficient due to their buoyancy, hybrids are heavier-than-air, making them easy to handle in remote locations without ground infrastructure, like a bush plane.

ROUND AIRSHIPS
Solar Ship makes spherical airships that combine the efficiency of airships with the controllability of multicopters, creating highly maneuverable heavy-lift aircraft that can be used for transporting cargo and passengers, or as platforms for cameras, sensors, or research equipment.
We build round airships in a wide variety of sizes ranging from small training craft, to critical cargo delivery drones, to passenger ships, all the way up to cargo vessels capable of lifting multiple tonnes.

AEROSTATS
The same spherical design used for its airships enables tethered balloon aerostats with low cost, simplicity, and operational endurance. Easily transportable and rapidly deployable, these aerostats can be used to provide wireless communications or intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) in remote areas.

TENSION FABRIC
Built of metal and tensioned fabric, Solar Ship’s main operating base buildings are grid-independent with solar power and provide huge volumes for large aircraft or factory operations at the fraction of the cost of a traditional permanent structure.
TEEPEE
Rapidly deployable with the use of a tethered aerostat, the all-fabric Teepee is an ideal solution for large volume infrastructure requirements in areas where it would be logistically and economically impossible to construct a conventional structure.
Our teepees can range from small pickup-portable structures for shelter and maintenance of small aircraft or remote operations, all the way up to hangars capable of accommodating some of the largest aircraft.
