COMMUNITY
The world faces immense challenges today, with the existential threats of climate change, habitat loss, and pandemic disease weighing on our future. Solar Ship’s core mission has always been to tackle these issues head-on in ambitious ways. The solutions cannot just be technological, but must be social as well, requiring engagement with, and buy-in from, stakeholders everywhere.
These challenges are too big to face alone. Solar Ship partners with global leaders in academia, industry, entrepreneurship, finance, government, and at the local community level as well. If you think you can help and would like to join our mission, contact us to become a partner.

Solar Ship hosts a variety of programs to connect youth around the world, leveraging our network of partners to tackle these challenges:
SCHOLARSHIPS
Solar Ship offers scholarships to people living on the frontlines of remote areas under threat from climate change.
INTERNSHIPS
Solar Ship sponsors youth from the world’s remote areas to work with students from the world’s top universities to design systems to save lives, work with nature and break free from the fossil fuel economy.
IDEA TOURNAMENTS
Short events for teams of students to compete in hackathon-style tournaments to develop ideas addressing the most pressing challenges in the world today. Panels of judges rate ideas and sponsors provide investments into the top ideas.
AIRSHIP RACES
Annual events where teams of students design and build their own airship and then are put to the test in four categories: saving lives; protecting nature; electric airship performance; and wild card. The last category “wild card” is an event designed by communities living in and around the frontiers of nature.
